Walking Each Other Home

Caring Conversations About End of Life Decisions

Sunday, October 1

1:30-3:30 pm in Douglas Hall

On Sunday, October 1, the Stephen Ministry Team is pleased to host an elder care seminar titled "Walking Each Other Home: Caring Conversations About End Of Life Decisions" presented by Elizabeth Bertolini who is a Clinical Nurse Ethicist at Morristown Medical Center and is certified as a hospice and palliative care nurse, with experience with acute care, long term care, hospice/home care, and inpatient palliative care/hospice. She has her Masters in Medical Humanities from Drew University.

Based on her extensive work and life experiences, Beth will provide insightful information to aid in developing an understanding of the symptoms and trajectories experienced toward the end of life,  as well as what is meant by "goals of care", DNR, CPR, and artificial nutrition and hydration. She will also clarify the important differences between advance directives, living wills, and POLST documents. She will provide guidance and tools to facilitate the difficult conversations about end of life wishes.
