Welcome Joseph Kang

The Student Ministry Task Force is pleased to introduce Joseph Kang as our Student Ministry Director.

The Student Ministry Task Force spent many months praying about and preparing a new mission and vision so that we could equip a new director with a foundation to build from. Over the course of this past year, we received over 60 resumes and interviewed several candidates.

This fall, team members met with Joseph multiple times, and we are confident that God has provided us with a new leader in Joseph. We believe that he will instill in our students a passion for the Lord, and Joseph will devote himself to investing in and inspiring students to lead a life of service, generosity, and leadership for Christ. He is committed to caring for our students and their families, discipling them, and preparing them for a world that needs the Gospel now more than ever!

Please join us in welcoming Joseph to Liberty Corner Church at a special commissioning service on Sunday, January 10, during 10:30 am worship (available both in person and via live stream). The Student Ministry Team is planning meet and greet opportunities for the new year. Watch for details!

Meet Pastor Kang

Ever since I was little, I was known and recognized as PK, a pastor’s kid. It was the nickname that was given to me . . . regardless of my consent; it was a burden growing up with this nickname, simply because of the expectations that people had toward the pastor’s kids, at least in Korean churches. Now that I think back, it is my blessing because it defined me as a person and distinguished me from the world to walk as a Christian, a follower of Jesus Christ. Even after becoming a pastor in 2009, I was called and recognized as ‘PK,’ Pastor Kang, which I embraced.

Student Ministry partners with parents to inspire students to be followers of Christ.

We believe that God has called us to:

  • INSTILL and empower students with a passion for the Lord, to develop a heart for the lost, and a strong desire for spiritual practices and truths.
  • INVEST in and nurture students in their walk with Christ through sound doctrines and disciplines of the Christian faith, by caring for and loving them unconditionally as well as a commitment to biblical teaching, mentoring, and discipleship.
  • INSPIRE students by our example and encourage them to take faith-filled risks for Christ by sharing the Gospel and equipping them for a life of service and leadership, along with principles for living and having healthy relationships, for making good choices, and leading productive lives.

Our vision is for every student to be:

  • POSITIVE that God loves them and that He has a good plan, a joyful purpose for their lives, and that they are valued.
  • PREPARED for life, relationships, service, and for leadership driven by Christian values and principles.
  • PURSUED and met where they are.
  • PASSIONATE for Jesus Christ, for the Gospel, and the desire to share and model it throughout their lifetime.
