SNAP Challenge

SNAP Challenge

building awareness of hunger and food insecurity

The SNAP Challenge encourages people spend a week living within the means of those who use Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) to build awareness of the challenges that low-income neighbors face. The challenge simulates what it is like to rely on a limited food budget.

In New Jersey, the average federal Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefit is about $7.86 per person per day.

Take the Challenge

The SNAP Challenge is to subsist on $47 per person in your household for six days, from Sunday, April 26 through Friday, May 1. Please note that hot, prepared foods are NOT eligible with SNAP funds.

We will gather for brunch on Saturday, May 2 from 9:30-11 am in Douglas Hall and share our experience with each other.  Sign up below to take the challenge and attend brunch.

Feeding Hands Food Drive

The Mission Team will be sponsoring a food drive for Feeding Hands food pantry concurrently. Watch for more details about what we will be collecting.
